ABC Hopes (dis)ABILITIES Fitness Story – Kevin & Laura

Kevin has Autism, but that doesn’t stop him from working out. With the help of his Mother Laura, anything is possible! Kevin is surprisingly athletic, he runs like the wind and autism doesn’t stop him from doing 10 rounds of burpees and sled pushes.

Via Autism Speaks “Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. We now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by different combinations of genetic and environmental influences.”

WOD

Programming Intent: Last short cycle for the push jerk – work the technique then the form! Similar template to yesterday’s workout, but with a push/pull/ab combo. Turning the workout into a triplet (three movements) changes the dynamic of the workout in the technique and also the volume (another 55 reps). This is also special because we rarely do strict pull-ups in a workout for intensity purposes, but since the reps are small it shouldn’t inhibit us from moving fast with intensity.
