Meeting “Pukie”
Jul 30, 2009 Uncategorized
It’s official. First ever visit from “Pukie” came yesterday. Luckily it was mostly water. Charisse rowed her 8000m benchmark in 41:28. Not bad for someone who’s vertically challenged!
By the way, I can say that, I’m her mom and I’m also vertically challenged-Carissa

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. “ – Coach Carter

Main site rest day. Come in and do the gym WOD. You could also practice handstands or do some oly lifts.
We all have things we need to work towards. Some that are very basic, like the squat or things more advanced like muscle ups and handstand pushups. We all should be working towards something at the gym. Before the WOD’s feel free to ask about a movement or how to do it, the list is endlesss! There is always a progression towards any movement, and thats the beauty of CrossFit. Scalability is key. So keep that in mind next time you come in!

World Class Fitness in 100 Words
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, c&j, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climbs, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, , flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or Six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports . - Coach Greg Glassman, Crossfit Founder.
