Fitness, to me, isn’t entirely defined by one’s physical capabilities. I think it covers a much more broader spectrum. It is also your mental capacity and your willingness to endure, persevere and perform adequately through physical and mental breakdown. In this very familiar place of breakdown that we’ve all experienced in one form or another, one can learn much about themselves, and I think this is why my fascination and love for Crossfit materialized.

My objective as a Crossfit coach is to never stop learning how to be a better coach, in order to better serve others that want to become stronger, healthier versions of themselves. I want to make sure that every one who commits to walking through the gym doors gets my 110% effort, whether in knowledge or motivation, to reach their goals one day at a time, and to have fun doing it. What’s the point of doing something so masochistic if you don’t enjoy it?

A man once said, ‘do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain.’ Everyday we exercise facing fear every minute when we’re in the gym. The conversations we may have with ourselves might be, ‘am i good enough to do this?’ ‘this is going to hurt so much.’ ‘what if I’m not fast or strong enough?’ But when the timer goes off and it’s go time, we forget about that fear and just go. I want to facilitate the understanding that the efforts put into each day and each workout and the rewards it reaps span much further than just what we do in the gym. The rewards of our efforts trickle into each aspect of our lives, and having the outstanding individuals I coach understand this is my objective.

Kevin Royse

CrossFit L1 Coach
Director of the Eagles Athletic Association at Biola University

Sports and fitness have always played a big role in my life. I’ve enjoyed competing and training for sports for as long as I can remember. I’ve played soccer competitively for almost 15 years with football, basketball and wrestling sprinkled in along the way. The journey has always been the most enjoyable experience for me. You learn a lot about yourself with every step you take and trial you overcome. It’s amazing what you can accomplish once you get out of your own way.

My first experience with CrossFit happened in Southern California back in 2012. Like so many others the workouts at first just crushed me, but I kept coming back for more. The community I built was like a second family. We experienced life together and improved together. Whether it was a first strict pull up or aiming for a 400 pound back squat, we did it together. I am definitely blessed beyond all measure to work with the CrossFit Proper Ohana and excited for what the future holds.

Dianna Stolpp

I wear many different hats.  I love makeup, hairspray and High Heels.  I love  workout shoes, sweating and pushing myself to the limit.  I’m a teacher at home to my homeschooled girls and I love talking to kids and playing games with them.  I love to encourage others and letting them know that mental strength is just as important as physical strength. I believe in working hard for what you want and never giving up!

Daisy Alvarez

Daisy, our Joy Girl climbing a rope and doing pullups at CrossFit For Hope.

Daisy started Crossfitting in August of 2011. Since then, CrossFit has become her passion. She believes that the benefits of CrossFit go beyond physical changes. The true rewards are empowerment, confidence, and discipline that result from your hard work and the encouragement of your peers. Her job is to serve as a liaison between the Box members and the Coaches. Daisy understands first hand that not everyone is a natural athlete (it took her over a year to be able to kick into a handstand) and that at times we have different goals and needs. As Joy Girl, she can help answer any questions and is open to your comments, suggestions, and concerns.
